“The future belongs to young people with an education and the imagination to create.”
-Barack Obama
Education and how I* see it…
Curriculum
The class I would like to create would be one that samples all areas of 3D art:
*sculpture (ceramics, lost wax, metal, alternative material, reusable material, styrofoam, paper, etc)
*working on a 3D surface (make-up, surface paint with under-glaze and acrylics, engobes and textures)
*use of 3D materials (stain glass, mosaic, mixed media)
Education Philosophies
Students should be taught the skills they need to fully expound upon their imaginations; to create the ideas they have and fully utilize the realm of art to fulfill their dreams, thoughts and feelings. Above all, allowing a student to create to the best of their abilities, finding beauty in what they see, being able to accept and provide constructive critiques… and… HAVE FUN!!!
Technology Integration
A lot of the mediums I’m looking to teach don’t involve technology, but the methods of obtaining this knowledge and presenting this knowledge can utilize the latest in technology. Using video demos, online services, social media, web search and virtual museum tours can all assist in creating a more rounded view on the topics of 3D art. As well as teaching a student via these ways, teaching students of new technology developments and tools are also highly important (3D printers, how-to/design applications, etc).
